Kinetic Typography Inspiration

I found this impressive work of kinetic typography.

Its a song called "Shop Vac" by Jonathan Coulton
The Video is designed and animated by Jerrett Heather

Shop Vac (kinetic typography animation)

Heather uses many examples of expressive typography and kinetic type. The motion goes with the sounds and pace of the song. The transitions are all very well expressed and purposefull. Words such as Workshop have been edited to have a saw on teh bottom that cuts the words bellow it. dog has a ear that shakes like a dog. Every single word has thought put into it, where is it on the composition, what does it do, how does it transition in and out. Typefaces for certain words are purposeful for the popular cultural reference that word. Even the phrases are on appropriate backgrounds. Gourmet grocery store is on the textured bag of a recycled bag that they sell. TV is the image of the "as seen on tv" logo. Every possible expression that could have been made is made successfully and adds the videos overall expressive feeling. Visually appealing, understandable, almost every scene has a successful composition and its fun to watch.
